what kind of broadhead?

I started shooting bow last september and this year, if i can get my archery license, will be my first year bowhunting. What kind of broadhead would be a good choice for deer and maybe bear hunting. I have a Parker Huntermag with a 26in draw and set at 60#.

I will go with the Montec's as well. That is what I shoot. Easy to sharpen too. You will need to do that out of the box.

I gave Slick Tricks a try this past year, shot a doe and a hog I've gotta say I was very impressed with them! I know they will be back in the quiver next season!

Use the one that shoots straight and keep it sharp. I've killed game with NAP Thunderheads 125gr. (wild boar, turkey and deer) and 100gr. (moose), NAP Spitfire 125gr. (deer) and Muzzy 3 blade 125 (brown bear). What I've come to conclude is that as long as it flies straight, is sharp and holds together, it really doesn't matter what name is on the box it came in. The most important thing is to tune your broadhead arrows and shoot the broadhead tipped arrows that you're going to hunt with then either replace the blades or resharpen them before heading into the field. I like the replaceable blade style broadheads best since they are most convenient for practicing with the actual arrow you are going to use and switching out the blades for new sharp ones afterward.

Slick Trick or Spitfires. This is what you want it to look like:

To be clear, this is not my bloodtrail. I saw it on the internet somewhere...

thanks for the help. ill try muzzy, because of replaceable blades, and the g5 montecs, because a lot of people said so.

What do you mean "if" you can get your license? Is there some kind of law or somthing that would prohibit you from getting one?

I shoot Thunderhead 125s. A buddy was shooting Muzzys and shot his first deer at 18yrds and didn't get pass through. I wasn't impressed with the performance of those, but I hear they are good. Havn't tried the G5, but have been looking into it.

I have been shooting Rocky Mtn Turbo's since last year. Took down a nice Cow Elk last season. Great broadhead that shoots the same hole as my field tips....

RE: what kind of broadhead?

I agree that Montec's G5's and Slick Trick's are among the best choice's .The Montec's aren't as sharp as they could be coming from the package ,but a little seaming from a small grit sandpaper will polish them up real nice for you. Thje Slick Trick's on the other hand are quite sharp right out of the package, and their flight charactoristic's are greatcompared to your field point's.

I am shooting a Switchback XT- 60lb,28 inch draw and will be using 100 grain Montecs this year, with 5575 Goldtips. Always have used Thunderheads in the past.Wanted to try a cut on impact head with this setup.

RE: what kind of broadhead?

i second the muzzys cuz they are super sharp out of the package and they fly really str8

RE: what kind of broadhead?

I like the g5 montecs. But they do need to be sharpened out of the pack. I don't know why they havn't adressed this issue with them yet. They fly straight and make a big hole.
