Bear hunt'n spring verses fall season why

Spring verses Fall when bear hunting - okay what is your preferred season to go for Mr. Blackie of the north? :eek:Easier, bugs, pelt condition, baiting problems, what -what???[:-]

No where near me do we have a Spring bear season. I do enjoy the bear Fall seasonbecause it is usually open a bit earlier than everything else.

If I had to choose... I'd probably pick Spring, just because other than turkeys what else can you hunt in the spring? I think hide quality could be a bit better than an early fall bear as well.

The bear outfitter I use says the fall hunt is better, and he does both. Spring the pelts are thicker and fuller, the bears hit the baits better, but the bugs are terriable.

Fall, evening hunts are cool, pelts are good, bears hit the baits not as good as spring, NO BUGS or not as many as in spring

He's right about spring pelts being nicer. It's up to you I guess. If it were up to me I'd go in the spring to avoid deer season and be able to hunt year round kinda.
