What is the best hunting arrow ever made?
 

Just curious what everyone thinks. I say a xx78.

Thats a tough one....no pun intended;) There are so many variables that go into that choice. Some are straigher, some are stronger, others have a better consistency from arrow to arrow and batch to batch.

I would have to say that Easton's XX75 is probably close to being one of the best just because it has been around so long, and continues to stay around. Some other arrows, carbons to be exact, may be truthfully better...but they just haven't withstood the test of time like the XX75. Ask this question again in 25 years and you will probably get a totaly different responce....or maybe not.

Never had a problem with Gold Tips, with the XT hunters and the other in the product line. I rely on Gold Tip for all my hunting needs, as well as target comp.

I like the tapered arrows by Arrow Dynamics. They shoot exceptionally well with fixed blades because of the extra front of center and the way they flex.

After that I would say cheap old xx75 gamegetters in one of the thicker walled arrows. straight, heavy and cheap, what more could you want in a hunting arrow.

I'm in themarket for that perfect arrow myself. I currently have a set of Gold Tip Ultra Light Pro 300's on there way to my house. I hope these are the ones. I want to find something good and stick with it and get good with it. I'm tired of hopping around wasting money. Right after I ordered these GT ultra lights,I had my eye on a set of CX 3D Selects....typical man, we are always looking. ;)

There are several carbon arrows that are top notch right now, but as far as #1 all time, or 'classic', I'd have to say something in the easton aluminum line,(XX75,XX78,gamegetter) because just about everybody I know thats hunted for a while has had success with them at some point.

XX75 Autmn Orange. Easton never did anything more stupid than discontinuing that color series.

In the 50s it was hard to beat a Forgewood-for you kid's thats a compressed wood arrow-then came fiberglass & aluminum & the Micro-Flite Fiberglass was the choice of the better Bowhunters/shooters then Easton developed a variety of Aluminum grades-XX75 orange was a very good shaft & used by many then . My personal preference is still Easton & basically, I think they are all good (my opinion). I did the various Carbons & went back to Aluminum. I owned 2 Archery shops/lanes all through the 70s & Easton xx75 was my top seller for Bowhunters & the Easton Gold shaft was favored by the tourney shooters. Shoot the best you can afford & what you feel comfortable with-now a days, they are all good.
We are a much better prepared Bowhunter with the modern aids available to us. Good luck to you all this season. I managed several hogs & a 4x3 Elk last seasonwith Aluminums BUT they were so close I could have taken them with an old wood arrow also....

I started with xx75's and then went to xx78 SuperSlams. No complaints. Great arrows. I'm now using Beman ICS Hunter Elites and they seem pretty good. I'd like to try some Gold Tips and maybe ACC's.

Probably been more deer killed with wooden arrows throughout the history of man, probably people too. So if your judging the "best" on most kills I'd have to say wooden. I don't think there is a "best" today just a favorite.
