I'll bite. Why does he look like he's in a world of pain? Because he has a scab? Is he crying? Ok, maybe I can't tell if he's fine from a picture, but you certainly can't tell he's in a world of pain either. My point about him eating was that the injury doesn't appear to be effecting his day to day activities much.

Deer are pretty tough S.O.B s and it's documented that they recover from these types of hits quite well, as opposed to say a marginal gunshot, that causes massive tissue damage.
