I would look into Reflex's. I shoot one and I was in the same position as you....It cost me about $250 bare bow for the excursion. It is deffiantly a nice second bow.

I just bought my new bow this week. It was also my second bow and i am 15. It depends how much money you want to spend but more of which bow you like the best. Dont listen to which company you want go to the shop with an open mind and shoot around. I am looking at a very expensive set up that i am embarrassed to say how much I am spending. I just bought The bowtech tribute and cant wait for it to come in. I am paying for everything. Hope you get the right bow good luck.

I hate to lecture, but when I was 13 I saved the money I made shoveling snow, delivering newspapers, and mowing lawnsto buy a used recurve. The best thing about it was that it was mine and I earned it! $500 for a second bow for a 15-year-old is a little steep! (Don't you think?)

One with a fair amount of adjustability. Both draw length and draw weight.

That wayyou know you cancount on keeping the bow for a number of years if you don't have the funds later to buy a new one when you continue to grow.

Think proactive, not reactive!

Other than that, the others have good suggestions and you should definately try shooting a wide range of bows before you buy.

Hope this helps, good luck and have fun in selecting your new bow!

I am 15 teen and shoot a hoytmagna tec. They don't make them any more but I think the ultra sport is almost the same model. A reflex makes good bows also.

well i am 14 just bought my bow (in the signature) and rigged it out today for less than 300 dollas with a tru glo bright sight, Centra peep, and a stabilizer made by tru glo. Look on ebay hard but make sure you look at all of the manufacturers

I shoot a PSE Kudu recurve in 50#@28" that I got from Cabela's for $250 . You can buy heavier or lighter libs for it since it's a takedown , so it can adjust with you as you grow . Add Limbsavers™ and a stabilizer and you'll still have less than $300 in it . I've seen a used model of the same bow at a pro shop for $150 already tricked out similarly to mine . Shop around , don't fall for the "expensive bows are better" hype .

I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A HOYT. i would suggest to get some kind of hoyt that goes up to like 80 lbs max. they have consistent dead on accuracy and are the best bows made yet. on the other hand, Reflexes are fantastic bows. otherwise, if you got $700+ buy a mathews. kind of like hoyt.

P.S. GOOD CHOICE on the Hoyt Selena. Vicki on ARCHER'S CHOICE uses one. Outstanding. they are really darn good bows. i think i know what my next bow is going to be.

Get yourself a Reflex. Great value and the cam 1/2 has a fair bit of draw length adjustability for you to grow into.

Im 14 and I bought my fist bow by myself($300). Im gonna buy my second this summer which will hopefully be a Hoyt Vtec which is $659 bare bow. I will have over $1000 in it after im done. Parents think im stupid(neither hunt) but I want something that i can rely on and something that i want. $500 for a bow isnt THAT much compared to what it can be.

yeah i agree. 500 dollars isnt all that much, especially if its something you want. my family aint no rich family either. i saved up all my money by myself by helping some guys i know in construction, so it wasnt any mcdonalds job either.

When I was 15 I bought a Browning Rage. It has an adjustable draw length, so I was able to grow with the bow. Used it for 3 years and changed the draw length every hunting season.

A very good bow IMO.

What about a used bow you can save a bunch of money and get a real quaility bow. I just got a Mathews LX all set up with a dozen carben arrows fort $250.00. Save your money and get to some clubs and check their bulliton boards ya never know what you'll find. Mike

You can also go to Archerytalk.com classifieds. It is a good bowhunting community. I would buy from there before I bought off ebay.

Look at Cabelas Bargain Cave on their web page. They have some super deals on Bows-several brands. I got a Darton for $100 2 years ago. Got a Bow for my 15 year old Daughter for under $200.

I don't know much about the Hoyts, but from what I've heard, Reflex makes some pretty good bows for a low price. I'm fifteen and I shoot a Bowtech TomKat.

Hey Oneshot, you're fourteen and pulling sixty six?! That's pretty awesome man!

To you young people who earn your money and buy your own bows...good for you! Maybe I'm getting old (getting...not gotten). It would have taken me a long time to save $500 when I was your age. But, then again, my first three cars (which I also paid for) cost less than $1000...combined! I remember in '69 my father bought a brand new VW Beetlefor $1899 (with an FM radio)!
