Deer Calling

I bought Don Laubach's book, "Deer Talk". I was skeptical but tried it while turkey hunting. First sequence brought in a doe. Second sequence brought in another doe followed by big crotchie. Third - another doe. So I took it bow hunting. Had a yearling doe at 40 yards and brought her on on a string to 12, followed by mama. I shooed them away. Anyone else tried this? There must be something to it; I'm not that lucky.

Never tried it. But what the heck is a "big crotchie"?

I hunt upstate NY... deer have big bodies... this was a 1.5 year old four-point "crotch horn" ... he would have dressed about 160 or 170

Don't have the book but I do have a True Talker. Last Saturday, I called in two different Doe using the fawn distress call and I have called in some Bucks. It sure is a lot of fun, when it works. :)
