Which would you choose?

Hoyt Trykon or Mathews Switchback xt, don't recommend the Bowtechs I've heard to many problems with limbs to feel comfortable with one.

I really like the XT but I am a Mathews fan.
I love my Switchback
I am going t keep it another couple years but that new XT sure is tempting!

RE: Which would you choose?

All you need to do is read my thread "Shot the Big 3"....for my thoughts...

After shooting the Switchback, Tribute, Allegiance and Trykon it definatley came down to the Allegiance and the Tyrkon....with all else being equal, the Switchback was the slowest....great bow none the less but I'd go with the Tyrkon...fyi I went with the Allegiance and going back for the Trykon as well.

I doubt any Mathews shooter would immediately like the draw cycle of the TYrkon but there's no doubt the Trykon is much faster....

RE: Which would you choose?

If you don't at least try the Bowtechs you are doing yourself a huge disservice. Just FYI, the same people that make the Bowtech limbs make the Mathews limbs; Gordon Glass. For some reason you just don't hear about them as much. Maybe the Mathews guys are too embarrased to admit that they are not the perfect bow?[8D]

Anyway, if you are dead set against the Bowtech, then between the 2 you mentioned I'd go with the Trykon, no doubt.

Trykon. You are just paying for too much advertisement w/ a Matthews, IMO.

RE: Which would you choose?

I tried out both back in December and decided on the Switchback.
I thought it was smoother and quieter of the 2. You just need to
try them out for yourself. You couldn't go wrong with either one.

RE: Which would you choose?

Either would make a great bow. By the way, don't be so worried about Bowtech. My nearest Bowtech dealer sells a ton of them and has had no problems.[8D]

RE: Which would you choose?

The infamous Bowtech Limb problem was largely misinformation disseminated on Archery Talk and other forums. Do a search on this board for Archery Talk and you'll find the notice that they posted regarding brand bashing.

This largely came about as a result of certain individuals on a smear campaign.

Personally, I went with the SB over the Trykon. Smoother to draw and smoother to shoot. Those were my #1 and #2 criteria.

RE: Which would you choose?

That's why we're individuals and if one doesn't take the time to shoot both they are doing themselves and themselves alone a discredit.

I did find the Switchback smoother to draw, but not smoother to shoot..they were equal in that respect for me..noise was less in the Switchback but it was marginal and may be do to the aggressive cams of the Trykon which made it much faster, thus noise perhaps....feel is an individual thing and I like the smaller handle of the Trykon. Vibration, equal...again, I'd be happy with either...

Ok you guys talked me into it. I'll shoot all three then decide. I don't really need a new bow, because my scorpion is real quiet too and only 5 months old. Guess I just got the itch.

This statement makes no sense to me, the bows are nearly identical in price. Just say you are a mathews hater.

RE: Which would you choose?

I shot the Mathews Switchback XTthis evening and it's gonna be hard to beat, but I will try the other 2 first before coming to a conclusion. Actually the Bowtech Tribute and the Hoyt Trykon are 699.00 and the Mathews is 649.95 in my neck of the woods.

I have a Switchback and it is a great bow. I havn't shot the Trykon but most of the reviews I have heard have been good. Give em both a chance and tell us what you decide.

I can't. That would be brand bashing, and we just don't allow that here on hunting net. Besides, if you didn't pay so much for advertising, the mathews would be cheaper. ;)

RE: Which would you choose?

The "Big 3" bows are all very close in speed. To point out the XT was a few fps slower (although true) is almost worthless in reality. We're talking about thousandths (.00x)of a second at 30 yards. Speed is hyped.

I didn't mind the Trykon in my personal test of the 3. I found it a tick louder than the XT, but not as loud as the Bowtech and none were smoother than the XT in draw or post release. These were my personal findings.

I bought an Outback two years ago and never looked back. And yes, I shot the newest Hoyte at the time and compared them. The Mathews just felt better to me. I say shoot them both and then decide.

Why only 2 or 3 bows? There are sooooo many other great bows out there!

RE: Which would you choose?

Well I made it out to another shop and shot an Old Glory and the Tykon. As I mentioned earlier I already shot the Swichback XT. Well I don't like the old glory, but the Trykon is at the top of the list as of right now. I will try to shoot the Tribute and Allegience before coming to a decision. I have plenty of time to shop around. I have looked at some other bows like the Ross and Darton's, but not really into either of those lines. I would like to find the new Browning and shoot it too. Can't remember what it's called right now??? Anyway thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I'll keep ya posted. If I had to buy it today though it would be the Trykon.

Would like to know why you did not like the old glory I personly shoot the tribute but know so many people that love that bow and shoot it for hunting and in competition.

A little longer than I like. And seemed noisey compared to my PSE Scorpion and the other few bows I've shot so far.
