I got spotted the first day outlast year at 20' on flat terrain, I was shocked. The spike came down the trail and stopped 20yds behind me starring right up at me.

As for myself between 15 & 25 feet.

The height varies on terrain, foliage and ground cover. If I’m on a steep hill my stand placement is 20 to 30 feet. In a flat terrain I normally go just high enough to get into the upper canopy for cover. Seldom will I be below 15 to 18 feet.[/b]

When I used my climber in the early years, I would routinely go to 30 feet . . . and hardly ever got spotted.
Now I use screw-in steps and go to 18-22 feet . . . and hardly ever get spotted.
