Okay, Shot the Big 3, Decided/Purchased.

Great review!! Glad you got to try all 4 bows before you made your decision. I wish I had that luxury.
You seemed to make not only a great personalized choice but an informed choice. You knew what the others can perform like. But you still chose your own personal winner. Congrats!
I went to a local shop tonight that carries "the Big 3". (He claims he is a Hoyt dealer as well as a BowTechbut I see him only pushing the 45 Mathews Switchbacks he has on the hangers). So there isn't a Trykon in the shop or even on order. He clearly ranks them as #3 out of the Allegiance, Switchback, and the Trykon. That is all fine for him, but what about the customers that might be interested? See what I mean about pushing the Switchback. BTW, he only has about 20 Hoyts and BowTechs in stock.
Anyways, I also found the Allegiance to be brilliantly smooth compared to my Trykon. I would love to own both bows as well!!
But then again, I really don't notice the roughness of the Trykonmuch anymore.
You will fall in love with the bow. I promise you, you will have no regrets. The speed is amazing. I found I am shooting closer to 53 lbs at the moment and putting up 247 fps with a 380 grain arrow and a 29" drawlength.
Much like your set-up.
I love my Hoyt but am also impressed by the BowTechs, even though I have really only pulled one back to full draw and thats about it.
Good luck and have fun shooting that beast!

Not intended to de-rail, but Bols- I had to look at your location to see if you were talking about the bowshop I frequent. Almost same story, if you try a Mathews it's rigged to the hilt, try a bowtech & it's bare with a plastic flipper rest!
Back on track, So which is it........smooth or speed??

Dave,
It is a shame. I just want the luxury of picking up the top bow from each company and having the ability to shoot it without hearing, that Mathews is the way to go even before I tell the guy whether I want afishingrod or a bow in my hand.
I asked the guy about longer ATA bows for 3-D and Target, instantly, I found myselfhovering over a Mathews catalog. Nothing against Mathews, but the company isn't for everyone. I would like the opportunity to shoot something like an Old Glory or an Allegiance heck, even an UltraTec or ProTec so I can get the feel of all sorts of bows.
I just want an honestpro shop ownerand an honest report on bows. Straight shooter, like my bow please!!
That is why I am glad Rob got the opportunity to try each bow before he bought one. I respect a pro shop that gives guys the opportunity to do that. Both of the pro shops I go to either don't let you fire a single bow before you buy one. . .
Or
Like I mentioned above, push one brand so hard you are ready to hand the guy a tube of Preparation H for the hemorrhoids he got trying to sellyoua Mathews.
Anyways. . .
Speed or smooth mods?!

Hey Bowyer,
Congrats on the new bow! Itoo havebeen shootinga Hoyt for some time and shot several bows trying to make a choice on a new one. My neighbor shoots a Switchback and I liked the feel (and silence) of it. But after shooting the Trykon, I was sold! The harsh draw cycle and/or rollover complaints seem unfounded to me. Sure, the Trykon is slightly less smooth to draw, but I suspect the people who describe it as "horrible" are perhaps over-bowed. It would be interesting to talk to some of these twenty-something hunters in 10-15 years to see if they killed more deer with their 80 lb. set-ups than those of us who shot in the 50-65 lb. range...after all, a pass-thru is a pass-thru regardless of how far you have to walk to retrieve your arrow!

Sweet congrats on the new bow. I am sure you will make many new memories with it. I enjoyed your post and as much as I wanted to, I didn't cheat
This really got my attention....
My Trib at the same specs with speed mods shoots a 380 grain arrow 308fps. My Allie at 311. Both with factory strings and hush kits.

This really got my attention....
We shot 2 bows at 70 lbs, 29" draw, the Trykon and the Tribute
Tribute 291 fps
Tribute 291 fps

Last month I did my own test of all 3 @ 60lbs. The Switchback and Trykon were very close in feel. I got upper 270's lower 280's every shot with them. The Bowtech I didn't care for. It was fast, but actually kicked a little in my hand. That one hit mid 280's.
My test meant nothing, b/c I took the $ I got from my Outback and put that towards my Starcraft I bought. It's fishing time...I'll get a bow later this summer.

WOW Rob!
I was certainly surprised in your decision ,because I read the headline and had pretty much figured you had changed brand's ,but I was curious to which you chose .I'm really surprised that you found the Trykon faster than the BowTech's ,but Hey! you did thing's right and your gut feeling was that the Trykon was for you .
When I bought my 04 BowTech Patriot Dually ,the Hoyt Xtec was high on my list ,it did most thing's better than the Dually, but I was so impressed with the speed that I chose it over the Xtec ,and the smoothness in draw was pretty close ,the Xtec was much smoother in the shot and I preferd the grip on the Dually better than the Hoyt .
But I have to agree Hoyt has a great bow ,but I really thought you had changed brand's ,anyway's congrat's on your new Trykon ,I'm really going to have to test this bow for myself just for my own curiosity, and I'll keep in mind what you've mentioned here .
Thank's for the great post on these 4 awsome bow's.

DaveC, I made a phone call and found out that the Bowtechs did not have the speed modules in.
aeroslinger, I didn't bring the bow home with me, I'm waiting on accessories we ordered and slapped down the cash, but I promise to post pictures when I set it all up...we were shooting bare bone bows.
Greg, I'm not ruling out the Allegiance..trust me, I feel in love with that bow as well and I'd bet you wouldn't be surprised if I had come home with it...in fact, the Trykon I chose was in stock, it doesn't mean I won't change my mind when I get back to the shop or, come home with a second bow....anyone need a '01 Hoyt VorTec?
goldtip46, no speed modules..I'm going to request shooting one with speed modules just to rechrono it and feel it...I'm not ruling out the Allegiance, I loved that bow.
NCYankee, there's no doubt that diehard single cam owners like a Mathews owner usually won't like the draw cycle of the Trykon. That doesn't surprise me...it's two different animals like my friend Kurt, after being used to his Q2, the Tyrkon shocked him and he's buying the Switchback, great choice for him...
buckeyebuckhuntr, thanks for not cheating,
and after talking with Nate, like I said, no speed modules and your findings are right on the mark....and by that I assume you can about 15 fps by adding the speed mods. I'm going to see if I can shoot one with the speed mods..after talking with Nate, he said they order them in without for the hunters and if a 3Der wants them, they'll add them....I wonder if that would have pushed me into the Allegiance, it still might, like I also said, I didn't setup or bring the bow home....I can still change my mind...it was a real battle for me between the Allegiance and the Tyrkon...I spent 3 hours there and most of it was between these two bows..I ruled out the Tribute earlier and kept the Switchback alive just because...I wanted it to impress me more than it did but the Allegiance and Tyrkon were hands down the top two for me.....again, for me....I'm still on the fence when it comes to my choice between these two.
Nubo, I was surprised too, I was trying to convince myself out of a Hoyt...but it was too impressive...again I'm redundant but I absolutely loved the Allegiance.....the Trykon was faster but the Bowtech but they didn't have the speed modules, that would have put them either even or over the top....and it's not a done deal...there's money down but nothing said up yet.....
D Man 1, in this shop they were all pretty equal across the board.
