Did I read ohio regs right. You can only hunt witha long bow, no compounds?

I live in Ohio and i use a compound and have never heard anything about not being able to ever. You can use compound,crossbow,or longbow.

All archery tackle is legal in Ohio. Recurves, stick bows, compounds, Xbows etc...

I believe ya'll. That did not make sense since they allow crossbows but here is the regs from the ohio dnr website
Allowable Hunting Equipment
Archery Season:
Longbow: minimum draw weight 40 lbs. Crossbow: draw weight not less than 75 lbs., nor more than 200 lbs. http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife/regs/deer.htm
left side of page. NO mention of compounds.
BTW, Where is the best region for bucks in Ohio.

A compound is considered a longbow by Ohio's definitions. Basically, a vertical bow.

have you ever hunted in ohio. 75% of people that hunt with bow in ohio use a compound.

M. Magis is correct, a compound is considered a longbow in the laws here. When we check our deer in they are checked in under longbow.

proff when i checked my deer in on the last week of archery season the lady asked me if i shot it with a compound ,longbow or crossbow. the one i checked in earlier in the year i was just asked if crossbow or longbow.i did not pay any attention at the time until this thread came up. i wonder if they might break it down a little more in the future
