Tagged out in only two nites

Just thought you might want to here about this one. I was out for only the second time this year, darn bugs kept me away in the early part of the season than I made it out one night before work kept me away for four weeks, then I made it home in time for my kids {twins} birthday on the 16 of october, managed to talk the wife into letting me go out that night and OOOHH what a night it was it started out by me jumping a doe and two fawns on the way in to my stand and then I saw six more deer through out the evening, as I was getting ready to call it a night as I glassed the creek bottom one more time and their he was like a ghost slowly sneaking in on me {I had been grunting and using an estrus bleat earlier that evening and a little doe in heat scent, still can't believe it worked} then I saw the head gear he was sporting and those tines turned me into a rubber legged tree dweller so to be on the safe side I decided on a sitting shot he come in lip curled looking for that doe he stopped boadside at about ten yards and slowly turned around as if he was satisfied that their was no one in his bedroom to get all worked up about as he paused for a secound look I let go with 125 grain jack hammer and sent it home he only traveled about 100 yards but since I was hunting between two sunflower fields so I let him go till morning before I took up the trail and as luck would have it it snowed that night but luckely he was a vary easy find turned out two be a double lung shoot I was a little nervous that nite because I knew I didn't get a complete pass through shot turned out it was a complete pass through except for the skin on the opposite side.take a look at this picture tell me what you think, should I of held off since it was only my secound nite out this season http://community.webshots.com/photo/...52723709qUppJo

It would have been tough to hold out on that one. Looks to be a pretty impressive buck. If you would have known there were/are bigger ones in the area, that might have changed your mind. But it's a dandy of a buck either way.

This buck had two chucks of fat the size of a fist around his gut. He had more fat than anything we had seen before. It looked like he was feeding on corn. Way to go, Jim! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

THANKS A LOT FOR ALL THE COMPLEMENTS!!! I just coulden't let that one walk and hope something bigger would come by next time I was out,hay it's still fun to be out their even if I only have a doe tag left and as my luck goes the first deer that comes by will make the one I harvested look like a dawarf Ya right and their is a Hanson buck under every tree in North Dakota ,we only have 48 trees in the state and thats counting telephone poles Well its back to work for 14 days straight then home again to fill a bonus doe tag again thanks <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>:)

Beautiful animal . . . congratulations on the successful hunt.

First you had the oportunity for a perfect shot and you measured up.

Second, I have bowhunted for decades and if I've learned anything it's that when I have a decent animal in my sights . . . I take the shot. You can about imagine the number of times I passed on an animal and never got the chance for another.

You made the right decision.

Nice buck!
Gotta agree, there are possible world records under every tree in ND, but I'm still looking for that tree!
