well i agree check them out before you buy one but 40# is enough to kill a deer here in N.C where i live 35#is legal so i know 40# whould do ok speed is not everything

if your only going to have it set at 40 pounds. look at the alpine micro stalker. you can get it in 40-50 pounds and is a very good bow for the money. my buddys daughter has 1 in the 30-40 pounds and shot an arrow right thrue the shoulder of a deer this year with it set at 40 pounds.
