Age of buck?
 

This is a buck that I passed up earlier this year and want to know how old you think he is. He's either a very nice 1 1/2 or a smaller 2 1/2 yr old. Last year my brother took a six pt with a 13" inside spread so I know the genetics are there for him to be only 1 1/2 yrs old.

I would say 2 and a half to three. The body is too developed for a one year old.

2 1/2 years, deffinately not 3 with that dorn growth. Was that picture taken in Michigan? That would help me. Welcome to the forums!

The pic was taken two hours north of Detroit and two miles off Lake Huron. I saw this guy in October with a bigger eight (approx 110") in a clover field. It was clear that there was a year difference in age and I didn't think the bigger one was 3 1/2. I passed on him cause I thought he was 1 1/2, but once I looked at the pics I think he's 2 1/2. Its a pretty big neck for 1 1/2.

That deer is 2 1/2. He's got great mass and should be a dandy next year.

Yea his body is way too big to be a 1 1/2.

Yeah he's a 2 1/2. You can tell by the body structure, definitley in the neck....

2 1/2 years I think, next year he will be a great shooter.

Defenitly 2 1/2.. Any pics of the bigger one? 2 years from now he'll be a great buck.

Sorry, no pics of the bigger eight. Was a little busy trying to get a shot at him, but never got it. He did end up passing by twenty yards in front of me with nothing in between us. The problem was it was way too dark by then to risk a shot.
