RE: Calls???
I'm in SE Nebraska and I'm gonna start using them next weekend which is the first chance I'll have to get out. The Rut will be right around the corner and the bucks should be sparring for and hunting does from what I have read. You might have some luck with light rattling this weekend.
There's another post on here that talks about rattling and someone posted a link to an Iowa buck hunting article about the 5 different phases of the hunting season and how to rattle for each. It was a very informative article. Do a search for rattle or rattling and it should come up for you. -Brad Eastern Nebraska Bowhunter |
RE: Calls???
calling can be done at any time but the status of the rut will determine what calls to use.generaly in early season non aggressive contact calls should be used, soft grunts and bleats.when the rut get cooking more aggressive calls are in order, aggressive buck grunts, tending doe grunts, clicking etc, etc.effectivness of rattling is directly proportional to the buck to doe ratio.the perfect buck to doe ratio is 3 buck to one doe.if its the other way around rattling will be much less effective if effective at all.
