slick tricks
Ive been looking for new broadheads and ive been reading up on slick tricks. I was wondering if they actually do fly just like field points and if anyone has had success with them.

RE: slick tricks
I dont shoot these heads because I just found out about them. That is probably on of the higher use heads on here.

RE: slick tricks
I just recently bought 6 of them in 100 grain. I would shoot a
field point and then the Slick Trick, they do fly like a field point. I have used Thunderhead 100's since I started bowhunting and I can honestly say that the Slick Tricks do fly better. I just can't wait to get a shot at a deer with them. |
RE: slick tricks
Yes, they do fly exactly like field points. Easiest tuning broadhead I have ever shot.... well actually they don't really need any tuning but it is still a good idea to shoot hem just to be 100% sure.
They make huge holes going in and out of the deer and do massive ammounts of damage inside the animal as well. Best broadhead out there IMHO. |
RE: slick tricks
I shot these heads this year, and took 4 deer with them. They flew very well out of a nearly perfectly tuned bow, I will vouch for that. As much as I liked these heads, I can't say entirely that it was the BH. Any BH will fly well if your bow is tuned. Good luck.

RE: slick tricks
I switched this year and just LOVE the ST's! Go for it you won't be disappointed!

RE: slick tricks
I was a little hesitant at first because they do not appear to be as sharp as say, a Thunderhead, but they do open up big holes and fly great. Shot 3 deer with the same head with no damge to the head. They are definately well made and they will be in my quiver again this fall.

RE: slick tricks
haven't shot them but am going to this coming year. I've heard fantastic things about them.

RE: slick tricks
I seem to be in the minority here. I like how the heads fly, but performance on game is insufficient. Lost an Elk this last year using them, and am going to throw them away. Made a perfect textbook shot (on video), virtually no blood at all, arrow passed through, and was found. Looked for 4 days, still no elk. Very disappointed with this broadhead. In my opinion, not very sharp out of the package. Needs some improvement. Might be fine on deer sized game, but in my experience is lacking on larger game. Part of the reason I had tried them, was that everyone was bragging about these huge wound channels and blood trails. Definitely not the case this time. And for those of you who are saying that this is hunter error, out of 20 years of bowhunting, and 17 elk later......this is the first one that I have ever lost.

RE: slick tricks
I took 3 deer with them this year and the blood trail depended on the angle of the shot. The first was awesome, the next non existant but didn't matter because the deer fell within sight, the third was spotty at best.
All 3 were passthoughs and recovered. |
RE: slick tricks
Absolutely the best head I've ever used ,will be using them from here on in .and they fly just like your field point's as the other's say.

RE: slick tricks
I think what a lot of folks might be missing is that flight alone is not the best judge of a broadhead. Sharpness should also be a key consideration. On top of maybe not being real sharp, these things cut a small hole, 1 inch is advertised but it appears smaller than that. I think they weregenerous in their size claims. You're going to get some poor bloodtrails with these things. A tiny broadhead is No substitute for sharpness and a well tuned bow. They may be fine, but they are dull and small. Just realize it going in. It won't take a lot of fat to plug a hole.

I will agree that the Tricks are not as sharp as other heads but the ones I have used were sharp enough to shave the hair on my arm. Having said that, they do not shave like a Thunderhead and I wish theyhad a tad better edge fromthe factory. Not sure about the 1" diameter but I used the 1 1/8" diameter with excellent results. The bloodtrails I have seen with the Slick Trickswere excellent. They are not a miracle broadhead, as the deer I have shot with Thunderheadsalso had excellent bloodtrails. What I like about the heads are the toughness....I like the thick blades, the solid steel ferrule and the locking system used seemsvery secure. |

Ive been looking for new broadheads and ive been reading up on slick tricks. I was wondering if they actually do fly just like field points and if anyone has had success with them. I would add that they are the most accurate head that I have ever shot though. I would also add that the heads that I received were very sharp out of the pack. Most heads, even Muzzy need some sharpening IMO. I believe that 5-shots heads were also very sharp. |
RE: slick tricks
I really like these broadheads. I've only killed one deer with them so far...but it left a heck of a hole. I could actually see the blood gushingout of itsside whenit took off. I proceeded to follow a heavy bloodtrail for about 60 yds. and there layed my buck. Not to be sedistic or anthing, but...I've never seen a deer with so much blood on and around it. I'll definately be using them agian this fall.

RE: slick tricks
Took a black bear & deer this year with the ST. I love them. I also wounded a deer this year w/ them...not the bh fault. A deflection caused my arrow to hit exremely far back. The bh actually did a done of damage to the areas impacted, but we lost the deer in a lake. Never found her.
