I second that opinion! At least you are seeing plenty of deer? You saw more deer in one day than I have seen in three weekends! Too Da** Hot out here, but its cooling down and i hear they are starting to move...Good luck bull.

well at least your out there! My days events were a little differnt. bent over to pick up my keys, pulled a MAJOR muscle in my back. Called off work, went to doctor. Will have to stay home tomorrow as well, it really hurts like $%@$&^. I am supposed to leave for a weeks long hunt in West virginia saterday, Now I don't know if I will be able to climb a tree! I am now looking into some ground blinds. I sure am not having to much luck this year! Hey at least I am going to be out, even if I have to crawl!

Well I had a great morning in the woods.
Got into the ground blind about 5:30 sat and waited till daylight.
Nocked an arrow just on day break.
Had 6 doe's and 4 fawns walking all around the blind but none really offering a shot.
Had the big boy grunt while the doe's where there so I grunted back at him we carry this on for a few minutes right up to when a doe started looking for the other buck (namely me) she sticks her head into the brushes I have my blind in.
I did not her her come up behind me but when she blew it scared the crap out of me. I said the naughty word and all the deer left.
It took my heart 30 minutes to slow back down to normal.

Climbed into a cantering Oak (which didn't look too crooked in the dark, but sure was tricky climbing!) and settled in by 6:15.

Nothing but squirrels until 8:55. 9:00 am rolls around and I pack up the gear, drop the bow, and start climbing down in the Summitt. I'm 4 feet from the ground, cutting one of the labels off the safety harness (which I've been meaning to do for about a month, just keep forgetting), look to my right and there stand 4 mature does looking in my direction. It's not bad enough that my bow is lying on the ground, mere feet away, but now the foot platform is angled upwards at about a 35 degree angle. Too make matters worse, these deer are upwind and can't see me through some hemlock boughs.

They just milled around, knowing something was wrong, but unable to locate the source. Meanwhile, I'm trying my damnest to conjure up a way of retrieving my bow (at the end of a 20 foot haul line, with 15 feet of that already on the ground) without spooking the ladies. Needless to say, after 10 minutes of this, both my mind and legs were in agony.

The does finally wandered off out of sight, and I literally fell off the platform, my thighs and calves trembling. Coincidentally, they obviously were not out of earshot, as they bounded into the nearby pasture and jumped the fence.

I bemoaned my bad fortune, and blamed it on Cardeer's necklace. Deer never sneak up on a hunter when they're 5 feet off the ground in a climber!!

Went back this afternoon and had 3 deer on a secondary path about 60 yards away. Been playing with a rather large 9-10 point, had him grunting and ripping brush this morning and afternoon, but the necklace hasn't seduced him yet. I think it's working on his pappa'

Well the last 2 afternoons I have been just relaxing in the woods right behind my neighborhood, I haven't seen one in there yet, but I feel I am gradually figuring out where they are moving through in the afternoon. I did not get a chance to do hardly any scouting in this area preseason and from the deer I have heard this afternoon I will be setting up another 100 yards further in which will put me at the edge of a shallow gulley that funnels right up to a field.

I have been very relaxed though, last night I scared the caca out of a squirrel, he was just coming down the trunk of my tree, I slowly looked straight up and when we were almost eye to eye I whispered "hey" squirrel actually jumped off the tree onto the ground and took off faster than any squirrel I have ever seen.
