Pendulum Sights
How do they work? Are they worth it? They seem cool, but nobody that I know has one. What are the pros and cons?

RE: Pendulum Sights
I absolutly love mine. I am a terrible judge of yardage. This takes the guess work out of the shot for me and I can concentrate on my form. I shoot the model made by Cobra. With my bow its dead on from under the tree out to about 30 yards.

Treestand sights are an excellent choice if that is you primary style of hunting. They allow you to aim dead on from in tight to around 25-30 yds or so. Many are usable for ground hunting out to those distnaces as well.

Generally speaking you set the moving pin for 20 yards on the ground. then climb a tree and you should be able to shoot from the tree out to about 27- 30 yards depending on how fast your arrow is. That is if your form is good and you know how to shoot from an elevated position.
Downside to them is that they have moving parts and with moving parts comes another possible breakdown and most have a slight buzz when the arrow is released. I have used a couple of different ones and the slight buzz hasn't affected the outcome of the shot at all. |
RE: Pendulum Sights
If you are going to shoot mainly from a tree stand then you cant beat them from 0 to 30-35 yards depending on how fast your bow shoots. The Trophy Ridge Mantis has a lock on the sight to lock it down for transporting, traveling and for shooting from the ground. When you get up up in your stand just turn a little knob and unlock it, works great.
Except for hills!! |

I have a Keller Penedulum Site that I love, like everyone else said you can site it in at 20 yards for ground hunting or 0-30 in a treestand. I dont really use mine to much now a days sinc I started using my long bow now I dont worry about yardage I just point and shoot

I own a Prevator IV Pendulum sight. Want it?
It is hardly worth shipping. The dang thing bent. I don't have any idea how it happened. I don't abuse my bow. I think that I treat it as well as can be under normal hunting conditions. I'll tell you one thing...bend a pendulum sight out of wack, then try to shoot something from up a tree. It will totally throw you off. The pendulum will swing not only back and forth, but the swing will also shift left to right. In my case - I didn't notice the bend until I missed a deer, and I couldn't believe it. I put my pin right on it at 25 yards, and WHIFF! It took me a minute to see the bend. I noticed the pendulum swing SLIGHTLY to the side and it all registered. It sure doesn't take much to throw EVERYTHING out of wack. I went imediately back to where I was staying, and replaced my sight with my old one, and get everything sighted in all over again. Wasted time. Wasted deer. I paid $55 for the danged thing. Anyway...like I said....want it? Actually kidding..I'm going to keep it to show everyone what happened to me. Now - my buddy that recommended it to me, obviously did so because he loves his.....go figure that. |

RE: Pendulum Sights
I ai at the same point with one pin from the ground or my stand, I guess it matters how fast your bow is, but I just don't see the need for one with my setup
