Default openig day disaster!!!!!!

LONG STORY!!!!!
Lets see where do i start??? I sliped over a buddies house.. forgot me climber at mine. Only 17 can't drive after 9. Picked it up at 5 this morning. Went to go into my stand, walk by the trail to go to the stand F@#^. My drag gets stuck and snaps off F@#^. I slip and fall into a mound of dirt make a bunch of noise F@#^. get to my tree go up it and an atv flys by F@#^. Pull my bow up, no trigger finger F@#^. Hour later a guy walks by my stand and down the rail road tracks behind mine F@#^. An hour later a truck drives down the tracks making a bunch of noise F@#^. Then a train comes by and stops F@#^. The train gets going and then stops again and backs up F@#^. If I go anymore I'm not gonna wanna bowhunt anymore.. YThe afternoon hunt wasn't any better either... Didn't see nothing. But my buddies dad shot and missed what he said was to be about a 270 lbs. buck and he only saw 4 points.

I have seen some very intresting things while hunting but I can't recall ever incountering a train. I guess it pays to scout and do some homework, you only get out of it what you put in. Get your act together.

You almost had a worse day then me!

The day started at 4am with a 'I AWAKE!!!!' scream from the foot of my bed by my 2 year old (2 hours before she normally gets up). While brushing my teeth, as I spit I put my hand down on my wifes curling iron (still turned on of course) causing me to konk my head on the faucet!!!!! In such a hurry to get out of work I backed into a car on the way out of the parking!!!!!! Got stuck in a traffic jam on the way home, the day care lady says my daughter should go to the doctor, get to the woods about an hour and a half late, start moving my stand and I sliced open my thumb with my hand saw (not the one that I burned earlier). blood dripping all over my bow, release, quiver, stand. Managed to do a good Paul Bunyan impression on the tree though. I think I have one leaf providing me cover at this point.

Managed to get setup about 45 minutes before sunset. I didn't see a thing for the first time this year in that woods. Got snorted at on my way out though (well, i'm not sure if it was a snort or the deer laughing at the bloody idiot in the bare tree). I'm going out of town hunting the next two days and the forecast calls for rain and snow!

....But when that sun went down tonight it was just awesome out there. So calm and relaxing. Even though I didn't see deer it made up for the crappy day I had. Well, didn't make up for the backing into a car though. That one really sucks.

121553,
Who are you to start saying about getting my act together? You don't know how much time i've spent putting this spot together to hunt it. Ok lets see, i have trail cam pics of about 5 different deer and one is a nice 6point. And a couple other small bucks and does. There is a huge scrapre by my stand about 2*2 in demension. There are droppings of poop all over the place to the left of my stand. And off to the right of my stand is a huge rub about 2.5-3 feet offthe ground. Me and me buddies suspect that it's from this huge 8 point that everyone in the area talks about. I did my HW, I scouted, if i didn't i wouldn't be hunting next to a railroad track. You think I'm stupid because i set up neart a railroad track?? Only if i could show you this area and you'd **** yourself. Yeah and you woulda just passed it up because it's near a train. I know more about hunting in 2 years then your whole life hunting. You don't know me so don't make false accusations about me and what i do nad how i set up a stand to hunt. You'll see, i plan on posting a couple of pics with my new digital camera, you'll see how much i did my HW and prepared and i'll make you swallow your words. My act is together buddy but idk about yours.

Lighten up Gurubbi, I don't think 121553 meant to degrade you in any way.Sorry your opening day was a disaster but there is plenty of season left and it sounds like your set up OK.
As far as trains bothering deer they basically ignore them. I have a couple stands within 30-80 yds of a well traveled track and when a train comes by the deer just hold still till it passes then continue what they are doing. This track gets traveled about every half hour and the deer are used to it. The nice thing about it is I can use the trains noise to cover up my noise to and from the stands and while getting situated, they also are great for covering up the noise of a bow being draw and shot....lol.

Just to back up gurubbi, deer have no issue at all with trains, cars, or planes. In all of the above mentioned deer accept the noise of a train, a heavily traveled road or planes landing and taking off. They know what is normal for thier home turf and what is to fear. I have taken deer of the end of a runway, and within 100 feet from the edge of a highway, I have never hunted near a railroad, but I have seen a lot of deer along railroad tracks. Oh yea another excellent place to hunt near is bike paths, tons of deer and they do not seem to mind human scent very much.
