I am going to get back into bowhunting and I wanted some opinions on a stand I am going to purchase with my chirstmas money. I have only a cabelas gift card so I have to stick with whatever they have. I was looking at the North Starr Arrow Starr stand because it folds flat and it is light and it fits my 200 dollar price range. Is this going to be a good purchase? I would rather have the stand in my hands before purchasing but I have no cabelas anywhere near here. I would have to take a plane trip to get to one. So I would like to rely on yalls comments. Also I am a very small guy at 5foot 7 inches and 120 lbs. The stands I have now I cant carry very far. I need something very light but something I am going to feel safe in and that is very queit to setup. Thanks

I can't remember which brands Cabelas offers but I have a Lone Wolf hand climber combo and love it. Folds flat and very light but also very quiet and extremely sturdy when in the tree. Also I recomend Summit. They have some that fold flat as well and may not be as pricey as the Lone Wolf.Just remember you will be 20ft or higher in the tree so don't skimp on your stand or it could be the last thing you skimp on[&:]Even if your gift cert. doesn't cover the full price it would be worth pulling some out of pocket to make the difference. Summit! They are light, comfortable, quiet, easy to use, and they have great customer service.

I had an issue with a weld popping. I called them, they had one shipped out and I received it within 2 days. The customer service representative seemed very genuine and inquired if I was injured in any way.They included a shipping label to return the damaged upper portion of the Viper.

I have used an API Cimber as well. The API is actually quieter when climbing but tends to be too noisy when you are actually set up in the tree. They are heavier than the Summit.

I have a Lone Wolf Alpha hang on and I can't bossibly se how you could get a better stand.I am also small,5'9 @ 135# so I know where ou are coming from.This stand weighs about 10 pounds and folds completely flat and you can put it up as quick,if not quicker than a climber.Much better to use hang ons imo because you are not limited to trees you can climb.This stand wil also level to any tree.


The issue is you will need steps,they are expensive and will add weight but Lone Wolf makes some light sticks as well.Right now I am using screw ins but that will soon change.

If you are buying a climber and have a limit on money....Summit is good, so is North Starr. if you can afford to pay more........get the Lone Wolf!!!!!

Summit makes a stand called the openshot. weighs 14 lbs. It does not fold flat though. Its very quit and easy to setup. it usually retails for 189.00, but cabelas may have it on sale.
