Hi my name is michael and i am new to this site. I joinedthis sitebecause i knew thatthe peoplewho chat in this bowhunting forum truly love the sport. I have just taken up bowhunting this year and got my first deer ever. He has 11 points with a 19 inch inside spread. I was wondering what you guys thought the gross score and net score on this buck would be since i cannot do it myself because he is at the taxidermy. Below is another picture of him. There are no pictures of him in the field becuase we forgot to bring a camera.Thanks for the replys.

michael...welcome to the site...are both those pics of the same deer??? I ask because in the bottom pic on the deers right side (the side touching ground) his G3 has an obvious bend in it. In the top pic, the deer appears to have perfectly straight tines. The brow tines also look way more impressive in the first pic. IS this just the lighting or angles maybe, because to me they look like different deer. Congrats though on a find buck(s) lol.

actually i looked at it again and the G3's on both sides look nothing alike in both pics. Hell, except for the hair...that don't even look like the same kid...anybody else agree? I hope I'm wrong or confused but...

Now I fudged everything low, so realistically probably in the low to mid 140's?

Why don't you ask your taxidermist to put a tape measure on him orjust ask him to eyeball the gross score. I shot a buck back in 1993 and we knew he would be right around 125 net give or take 1/2 an inch. We knew this by taping it out and the taxidermist said it was going to be real close to P&Y just by eyeballing the rack. After the 60 day drying out period I went and picked up the rack, brought it to an official scorerthen brought it back to the taxidermist. It went 126 4/8 gross and 125 2/8 net. I am sure your taxidermist will give you the rack to get it scored by an official scorer. Thats one awesome buck and I think its got at least 20 inches on mine so I think it will go in the mid-upper 140's.

IMO it is definately 2 pictures of the same buck - look at the distinctive dark to light pattern on the deers left antler plainly visible in both pictures. Angles and whatnot are hard to see in 2D.

It's one deer guys. Look at the little sticker point just below the deers left brow tine, you can see it in both pics. if you look closely. I think this "extra" point that you guys are seeing is actually his deer tag, hanging on the deers right antler! The deer has 11 points in both pics.
If you guys can't see that, then I can see that you guys would have a hard time scoring a deer in the woods;)

Do you guys not notice the looks of perfectly straight tines in the top pic and bending tines in the second pic?? The kid in the 1stpic even looks nothing like the kid in the second pic except for the hair. I hope Im wrong though and dont want to start a fuss but I've killed several deer and usually take a few different photos and neither me nor the deer has ever looked that different in 2 photos.

don't worry wholelottagobble and the rest of you guys, this is the same deer and the same kid. The reason the kid may look different is because i physically just cannot smile. LOL. Howler is right though there is a sticker point next to the deers left brow tine and that extra point you guys are seeing on the deers right antler is my deer tag. I was a little confused about that deer tagpoint too. Thanks for all your replys guys i hope i can get about 145 inches out of him. Some of you guys said i probably won't be shooting a buck like that anytime soon again and i'm afraid you could be right sinse my dad shot a beautiful buck at 16 and still hasn't been able to top it after another 30 years. I'll tell you guys what he scores when i get him back from the taxidermy.

I am going to guess he"d go aboutlow 140s maybe a little lower. I agree with rack buck that deer in the second picdefinatley looks like a different deer.

Very nice buck and welcome to the forums. It sure looks like the same deer to me, in fact its very obvious. Camera angles can sure make things look different sometimes, but its the same deer. Congrats on a fine buck. Not much of a scorer but looks to be around 140.
