Is This Fast?

Hey guys is 290fps fast for a bow? Also would you be able to tell me what percent let off this most likely would be? Thanks,
Matt

ive heard of faster and slower. and youd prolly need to know the draw weight, arrow weight, and legnth of draw to figure out the let-off percentage.

is it set up for hunting or target shooting?

if it is a hunting set up and arrow weight is higher yes that is fast but if your talking target with hardly anything on the bowstring and a light arrow it is not slow but not as fast as some out there

I would Say it's got speed but most new bows on the market today go anywere from 290 to 320 or 330. and i guess i don't know what percent let-off.

RE: Is This Fast?

Is that advertised speed (IBO) or actual speed from a crono? If that is actual speed from a crono thats pretty quick.
The IBO on my bow is 332-340. I am able to get around 305 average through a crono at 70lbs 30 inch draw with a 400 grain arrow. Thats with a string loop, leetches and a peep on the string

It's plenty fast but why didn't ya give the brand name etc so someone can tell you the possible letoff?

RE: Is This Fast?

OK, now we know what bow it is. The IBO rating is 290 and that is not fast compared to most bows today. It's about average for entry level bows. Probably for an average hunting setup you could get speeds anywhere from 220fps to about 260fps, depending on your drawlength, what all is on the string, and weight of the arrows. There really is no definitive answer as to what you'll get. There are too many variables.

I believe the advertised letoff is 75% with the Bear, but this can vary due to module confiduration, drawlength and other features. The only way to know for sure is to put the buy through it's paces and weigh it.
