RE: New Land what to do?
DoubleHH- Unless Indiana has a popular deer hunting message board that is current you better use this one for your search.....Example: "Help" Indiana Deer Drawing!!!!......I would appreciate if anyone who has been drawn and hunted this drawing in the past would contact me regarding where and how to hunt this property!!! Hope this helps....If I was in your shoes this is what I would do....Good Luck....DeerMe

RE: New Land what to do?
You could use the Terrafly.com website and get a better picture of the land. Arial photos seem easer to read. To better familiarize yourself with how to read topo maps, look at the land you hunt now and study the terrain that you know deer are working. You can get a good idea why the deer travel the spots you hunt after you put your experiences to paper. You will then be able to look at unfamiliar land and read the land. Use both the topographical map and the aerial photos together and you have a deadly pre plan for when you arrive. Just a note in case you didn't know, key in on bottlenecks, natural funnels, benches, ridges, thickets and fields and put the puzzles together. Hope this helps, good luck!

RE: New Land what to do?
terrafly is good i have heard but not messed with it much. microsoft has one two but you need an address or coordinates to view either the aerials or topos. what i did when i bought the acreage was do a download of the square mile via this site, http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/address.aspx of both the topo map and the aerial photo. put em both on the wall together and you have a much better picture and idea. they are both a little dated the topo for our property dates to 85 and the aerial dates to 95 but it hasnt changed in a substantial way. hope this helps.
Hey, size may not matter but it sure IS nice! |
