chimkmunk feeder
 

I have a Smart timer feeder hanging about 10 ft back in the woods on the edge of my clover field,I've fed over 250 lb of corn in the last 5 weeks.Sat.bow season opened and I was in my stand at 615,at 7 my feeder threw out a pound of corn about that time 6 to 8 chipmunks started scampering around packing away the corn ,by 830 every grain was gone.Here all this time I thought I was feeding deer but all I been doing was fattening up the ground squirrels.Any ideas?

I don't know how they work yet,but I heard you get one of those owl decoys an put it hanging from a limb with a string so it will turn with the least breeze. it is supose to scare the squirrels away. I have one on the way.

want hurt to try it.

There should be evident signs of deer feeding there if any are. I would think that chipmunks and squirrels, coons, and anything else in the area would feed on some of it, but it's awful hard to believe that 6 or 8 chipmunks would tote off 250 lbs. of corn in a short period of time.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> Look close for deer tracks, dropping, turkey scratchings, and the such. You might be surprised at all the game that is feeding from your corn spreader.<img src=icon_smile_shy.gif border=0 align=middle>

The feeder kicks the corn out in a 12ft circle and the ground is too hard to make tracks,I have seen deer around it before and I'm sure they get some of it if they happen to be there.Sat.morning I was there and the chipmunks got it all,and they are there all day long.During the rest of the day probably 6 does visited the feeder while I was there but there was no corn for them ..I know theres deer around the aera where the feeder is ,we have managed hunting- 1000 ac.I'm simply trying to keep the ground squirrels from carrying it all off..
