Broadhead flight
I read in a Bowhunting mag. A well know one. That if you bow is shooting over 260fps that you should go to mech. broadhead. He said that if you shoot fixed blades at 260 plus that you will have alot of fight problems and arrow vibration will start happening. What do you all think about this. I shoot over 260, but I shoot mech. Game trackers.

RE: Broadhead flight
what do I think...get a heavier arra LOL! I am sure it can and I am pretty sure it is proven that a faster arra has some flight problems. But then again look at it like a super cub vs a 747. A supercub his a crosswind your liable to rip apart....a 747 hits one and you bounce around.....its apples to oranges but its the same concept!

RE: Broadhead flight
It does get a little more tricky, but with proper bowtuning it can be done, without to much trouble.

RE: Broadhead flight
Yeah, but why doesn't it do it at 259fps. I think a lot of it has to do with the lite arrow too. If you used the same logic that longbow and recurve shooters use, a 70# compound would shoot a 560-700g arrow. The momentum would be awesome. You'd be knocking deer offa their feet and I bet no flight problems.

RE: Broadhead flight
I have shot full size fixed heads at 301 fps, and they group like field points, all day, every day. Tuning, tuning, tuning! Just like 5shot said, "with proper bowtuning it can be done, without to much trouble."

RE: Broadhead flight
BigCountry's right...If your bow's set up right, you can hardly go wrong.
If your bows not tuned perfectly, the only hope is to slow that arrow down and practice with it. |
RE: Broadhead flight
Go to the site that I have typed in.It goes into detail about what they are talking about.

RE: Broadhead flight
I agree it all comes down too tuning your bow,I shoot Thunderhead 100's with no problem grouping at 296 FPS. Or I shoot Rocket Sidewinder which we all know fly like field points.

RE: Broadhead flight
I agree with most of what is said but , I think if you pay more attention to your arrows and how they are tuned , foc ,consistant grain weight , proper spine , proper fletching or feathers ,nock placement , and then of course your own shooting form that you can probably push slightly more speed maybe 270 275 with smaller cutting fixed heads . just my 2 cents
