ORIGINAL: MOTOWNHONKEY

Theres usually about 200 lbs of meat under them antlers. Keep trying youll figure it out.
Not around here there isn't ;)

Usual 1 1/2 old deer weighs about 120+ dressed and gives 60+lbs of meat. I shot a buck aged at 3 1/2 and he weighed 160+ dressed and I got 82 lbs of meat from him.

Only way you are getting 200lbs of meat from a deer around here is if you shoot the fawn and two does that are with him

I would say I am first and formost a trophy hunter but I like to buy a doe tag or two cause I really like the meat. I wont tag a doe with my either sex tag though.

I agree atlasman. My friend shot a 4.5 yr old buck yesterday, and it weighed 114lbs.Usually they weigh 140-150.Nowhere near 200lbs.Depends on how much food they have, and obviously if they come from up north or not.;)

The point was that guys that hunt for big bucks get to eat deer meat too. So I guess we are trophy meat hunters.

I am an opportunist as well,if any deer comes in range and my freezer is looking a bit empty it's going down.I don't care if it's a buck or a doe,but if it's abig buckthen that's a bonus.Definately a meat hunter..good hunting

The biggest "trophy buck" I shot was 233 lbs field dressed(yes we used a scale). No means was it a huge rack just an older deer. We think about 7 or 8.
My one deer = 4 fawns in meat
If we shoot bigger deer we get more meat.
Which means we see more deer next year, because we did not shoot all the little ones. MOTOWN did I get it right?
