Eventful Evening

I got to my stand at about 3:30 today, a little late but I had some things to do. I didn't see anything until about 5:00 when a doe wandered in, looking over her shoulder every other step. I heard a low grunting sound and behind her came a 16" 8 Pointer. He ran her for a little about 10 yards in front of my stand, and I decided that it was too early in the season to take a buck that isn't a true giant. Just as I made my decision another bigger buck came in. I knew which buck it was instantly, cause I have been hunting him the last two years, a 12 point with about a 19" spread. I drew on the 12 point, now around 10 yards away, but the darn doe caught my movement and sent all 3 running. He stopped at around 35 yards, but that is too far for me to shoot comfortably, so I decided to let him walk. A close encounter, but I'll be back out there Monday after him again. I love bowhunting...what a rush!!
