Shootemup, I bet knowbody wants to commit on that one. I'm sure all of us have taken deer both times of day but me personally, if forced to choose, would opt for the morning hunts...Fletch

Just read an article last night about that. It was on line. This is the URL http://www.bowhuntingmag.com/dynamic...ArticleID=1563

The gist of the article says that 50% of the Pope and Young bucks were taken after 4:00 PM but acknowledged that was primarily cause thats when most people hunt. Great article tho.

Hey, size may not matter but it sure IS nice!

Without any hesitation....."Mornings" have consistently over the years produced the majority of my deer!!!!!!!!!!!

I think evening are most productive and enjoyable. But.........It really depends on stand placement or which stand you choose. I have some stands you'll never see a deer in the evening and some never in the morning. You need to know the deers patterns!

PRACTICE....PRACTICE....PRACTICE......SUCCESS!

They both are nice. I love seeing the sun come up and the woods come alive, but I also like to get off work and end the day in the woods. Now for deer, I've seen more in the evenings.

Both are good, but it would be mornings for me.

If I had to choose, I'd stick to morning hunts. This way you have more time for cleaning deer.LOL

I prefer mornings though I seem to be having some limited success with evening hunting this season.

I like the mornings better but the evenings seem to be as good or better than the mornings in the early part of the season.

I hunt mostly in the mornings. My reasons are twofold. I'm color blind and have enough difficulty blood trailing in the daylight. Second reason is that I have difficulty sleeping once I've decided "I'm huntin' tomorrow!"

I would take the morning hunts. I'm seem to have much better success in the morning. It always seems like your trying to shoot at last light and following up the blood trail and other sign is much harder in the dark. In the mornings I seem to get a lot of shots at 8 or even 9 oclock which makes for a much easier shot..

I prefer mornings. One interesting point though is anticipation. For me, on morning hunts the anticipation seems to dwindle later in the morning especially after 9:00. The evening hunts the anticipation builds especailly as the sun goes down. I guess I like the morning hunts better as I decide when to stop. It can be 9:00, 9:30, 10:00 or maybe even hunt a half day until noon or 1:00. However, evening hunts get cut off at dark?

I like the mornings better. If you shoot one, you have better tracking light.

For me it depends on the stand or ground blind location.

Most of my stands work best for evenings, however I love an AM hunt before work.

I would say evening is better around here.only caught glimpses of a few in the AM--many more after 3:30pm.

Where I am hunting right now I would have to say mornings, they seem to just be starting to move right at dark. As others have said a lot of it has to do with stand locations.

I've seen plenty of deer in the morning but oddly enough, ALL of my deer have been taken in the evening. Just once, I'd like to track and field dress a deer without having to use a flashlight!!

Evenings are best for me. About 30-45 minutes before it's too dark to shoot effectively.

RE: Morning or Evening, which is better?

I Don't seem to have much luck seeing deer in the mornings, but then I never was much of a morning person anyway. I must admit that it would be nice to be able to track and field dress a deer when it's light out, but all the deer I've taken have been in the evening. I do hunt mornings also, but more in the evening.

I AM serious... :) >>--->
