Default A BAD DAY HUNTING!

On wednesday, this week I went hunting at our sportsmen club. I was actually on some private ground that borders our club property. Anyhow, at about 4:20pm I keep hearing this noise but can`t figure out what it is. It`s like a creaking noise, and it sounds fairly close. It goes for a while, then stops, then goes again. At 4:30pm I hear a loud thud, like a big branch hit the ground. No more noises. At 5:30pm I see a woman walking up a new gaswell road on our club property, she is tresspassing but I figure she will stay on the road so I am not getting down to say anything. She gets to the gaswell and turns to go out. She is out of site for a short time when I hear her screaming. I hear her running on the gravel gaswell road. Now I wonder what she is screaming about. Ten minutes later every fire whistle in our area is blowing. Soon after the whistles die down I can hear the sirens coming from every direction. They all come to the entrance of our gaswell road and stop. I hear someone yelling " he is messed up bad, hurry!" I hear someone opening the gate to the clubs gaswell road and a vehicle driving on the road, so I get out of my stand and go back to my vehicle and drive around the hill to the main road, and to the gaswell road entrance. Emergency vehicles are everywhere. I ask the police, they know me, what is going on? A couple of kids from a nearby house evidently put a ropeswing in a big oak on our clubs property and were swinging on the rope. That was the creaking noise I was hearing. Well, one of the kids was taking his turn and fell! His back was evidentally broken, he had no feeling in his legs. His mother, this turned out to be the woman walking on the road had already complained to the police that our gate was not locked!
Not much doubt that a lawsuit is on the way!
Now I feel bad that the little boy was hurt, but this property has been posted for over 40 years now. I know boys will do things like this, but how this woman feels it is the clubs fault is beyond me. The gate was not locked, but he did not open the gate anyhow, they walked around it.
I hope the boy recovers, and I hope we get a judge with some common sense!

And, to cap off a perfectly lousy day, I get almost home when a cessna airplane runs out of fuel and lands right in front of me on the hiway! Never saw that one before!

Man that was one terrible post. I hope those kind of days never haunt my neck of the woods.
Low flying cessnas, what a capper to a bad day.

Hey New Stanton, hope your hunting season gets better! You're in some good hunting area up there! I'm a native of Greensburg and my grandpap was from New Stanton. I used to hunt around the old volkswagon plant some 15 years ago? Good hunting and please be safe, you're too close to harms way!

My Daddy always said a bad day hunting was better than a good day at work. Sorry about the boy. Glad the Cessna landed in front of you and not on you. THAT would have made it an incredibly bad day.

Hey, size may not matter but it sure IS nice!

Dont know much about legalities, but it sounds clear that the boys were trespassing. Dont see how the judge can see it any other way. Maybe the woman is just looking for someone to blame right now and she may never even try to press charges. Hope the boy gets akay.

Sounds like a really unusual day. Hopefully you wont have anymore like that one, lets hope not anyway.

LOL @ Sooner
I am almost sorry I read this thread, I hope it doesn't rub off.
I do hope that the boy has a speedy recovery and that, if need be you get a sensible judge.

The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!!

God Bless,
Dave
