Thoughts on where to set up for Late season!
For the past four or five days in wisonsin i have been sitting in my treestand that is a corner deer like to use in a three acre hay field that borders a huge swamp(atlease over 250 acres) It is the only field for a good mile and I have no clue where the deer are. The temp here in wisc. is really cold right now and i would have to think they would come to feed in this field due to being so close. IT snowed about 4 days ago and since then only one set of tracks.
I also have another spot to bow hunt. It is a large wooded area, all oak ridges and havnt been there since the end of bowhunting. I've always seen deer at this spot. I'm trying to debate weather to stick it out at the hay field becuase i know there is a couple bruisers still around since no one that i heard of shot them or try the oak ridges and see what happens. One would think the hay field would be a prime area in the late season. Give me your imput on where you would set up and go? |

id say find food. im also in wisconsin, but i have tracks all over because there are no crop fields within miles. today wheni pulled in fro my afternoon hunt there was a nub buck and a doe feeding on hostas around a little shed right in the yard. they ran behind the big garage, i grabbed my bow and followed they were 25 yrads back in thick wild rasberry bushes where i couldnt get a shot off, so i jsut put my camo onand hiked to my stand. im definately going to plant a winter food plot for them next year.
