Input needed from acorn followers
 
Assuming a tree has some to drop, when does this usually occur? Gradually as wind causes them to fall? Coincide with the leaf drop, usually after a freeze?

Bonus points awarded if you're info relates to West Central IL :)

Most of mine in the backyard have already fallen in NorthEast Illinois.

About 80% down in southeast NY

Around here they start dropping in middle to late September and drop pretty regular through the first couple weeks of October. When we have a good crop I've seen deer eating them through November and even digging them up in snow.
