I have shot4 "gimps" over the decades, thinking that they might bevictims of poor gun shots. All (3 does, 1 buck), imho, were victims of cars collisions. Next cripple that comesalong, same same...

It seems you've got a lot of support on this one, and from me too. I haven't been faced with a situation like that it being my first season, but if I do I hope I will do that. You saved that deer a lot of pain.

I left him lay, I fed the buzzards, and foxes. Like I said in the original post,he had emaciated toskin and bones, he had a large bump/hump about as big as a football hanging down under his belly, and a coumpound fracture on his leg that looked somewhat infected, he litteraly could barely walk. I wasnt about to risk eating the meat. I originally felt bad for killing him when he was basically defensless, and for not letting mother nature take its natural course,but after reading these posts and thinking about Im glad I did what I did. Thnx for the reasurance guys and gals.
