Can bucks leave different tracks than does? I think they can. WHen a buck walks his head is weighed down by his antlers. Wouldn't his front feet drag in the snow but not his back feet? The doe can pick her feet up higher than the buck, so they won't drag in the snow.

Just thought i would throw it out there and see what you guys think.

There is a difference...I'm looking for some pics...would be easier than explaining it. :)

Theres a difference but not from the rack. A bucks chest is where it carries a lot of weight so generally it will have a wider stance in the front. A doe has more weight in the back so it will be wider in the back.

I have been told that bucks will drag their feet while does willlift up,more like a prance, always thought thats where the term "a little light in the loafers" came from.

I asked a buddy of mine today after the post and he said it IS both sexes of deer that make these. The does are just that big that they do that. But i almost am not able to tell a track from another track because i have about 50 deer in a 1-3 mile area.... Carrying capacity overflowing....lol

I was always told that does back feet follow their front. Steping in their own tracks. Don't know if that is 100% true but I have noticed it in soft soil before.

I've heard of 2 ways to tell the difference.
1) A buck walks more flat-footed and will therefore leave 4 marks, 2 main hoofs and 2 dew claws. A doe walks more upright, only leaving the 2 main hoof prints.

2) Doe urine falls straight down in the snow, while buck urine goes in at an angle. This 1 is fairly easy to see in the snow. Try it out, let me know what you find.

in all the f&s magazines and all other deer books i read it is imposiible to tell the difference between buck and doe tracks. i dont know about that though
