Thanking your Landowner - a plug of sorts
 

Every year I give the landowner, whose land I hunt, a nice Christmas present to say "Thank You" for allowing me to hunt his land. It also opens the door to talk about the next year's prospects and hunting rights.

This year I will be sending something not quite so "homemade." I'll be sending a gourmet basket from my friends over at rednecksnackbaskets.comIt should puta smile on his face and let him know how much I appreciate the hunting rights he has given me.

My mom makes cookie trays with all differant kinds of Christmas cookies on them. I give one of those and a $50 gift card to Cabelas (cause he like to hunt also) to the landowner. But make sure you do something forthe owners of the land you hunt, the cookie tray my mom makes doesn't take to much to make it has about 10 differant cookies on it, but they LOVE it.

I stopped and talked to my landowner, this morning. Part of the land we hunt is fenced (pasture land). He keeps horses in there from time to time for his daughter and grand daughter. I told him myson and I would walk the fence line....after deer season....and cut the brush and limbs from the fence. We're also sending them a basket (though not from the site you mentioned....lol).

the only thing we have the hunters on some of our land do is come and help us plant trees every spring. planting 20,000+ trees goes much faster with 10 people.

My uncle was given a top of the line Horton crossbow package last year, and some super expensive shotgun (I forget what it is) this year by some guy he lets hunt. The guy and his son have killed some really nice dear on his property the last 2 years, but I'm still impressed with how they thank him.

If I got something like bags of fritos and doritos in a wash tub, you better believe they could pick up their stands by New Years. Even a couple cases of beer and maybe a couple summer sausages or a night out for a steak would be better than some Fritos in a bucket. Or even nothing.

I always give them some deer or turkey or any other animal ive harvested over the year. I also give a store bought turkey right around christmas time.

same here,, its my way of saying think you for letting me hunt you land. heres a tender loin from the doe or breast from the turkey. because i hunt more than one peace of property, il still dish out some meat if i dident get anything off there land that season.
