Wow, one heck of an entry wound. Definitly watch out for shrapnelin your chili, and get rid of the broadheads...<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> good looking family.

I am trying the Snypers this year and so far one shot, one kill, works for me..<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> and the head is in fine shape.

Thanks for the replies folks. The head was not pushed into the CE 300 shaft. It just broke apart at the spot where it screws into the arrow insert. All that was left is that little piece in the picture. I attribute this to the fact that it hit something extremely unforgiving..ie the backbone..and at a hard angle. As Matt pointed out, all of the blades probably didn't open simultaneously as would be the case if the deer was perfectly broadside. This resulted in a tearing motion which opened up that nasty hole in the deer.

I cannot say that I am surprised to see many negative opinions of the head but I must admit that it was the first one I picked up, again, to use for the next harvest. The fact that the head disintegrated is one thing but one cannot argue with the results. I will give it some more thought though as I have many heads to choose from. Maybe that Rocket Hammerhead 100 will get the call on Saturday.

A dead deer doesn't always give me confidence in a broadhead. I have no doubt that every broadhead on the market will work some of the time. I alway wonder how they will perform when they hit spots where only really good broadheads do well. I'd be real leary of one that broke apart like that.

I don't know, Frank. Logan does not appear to be too &quot;psyched&quot; about the deer. I'm sure he will be soon though. I had 3 &quot;helpers&quot; on Sat. evening who alternated between being very exited, and grossed out. The older two will be carrying rifles on Oct. 26, so it might be &quot;show time&quot; for them. Congrats on the doe. That is an impressive entry wound, but you just made me glad that I didn't shoot anything a few years ago when I had them on the end of my arrows. The Muzzy 100 grain 4 blade made an entry wound maybe half that size in my doe, but came out in front of the left leg, penetrated about 6&quot; into the dirt, and looks nearly as good as new.

Avoid the inevitable until it is absolutely unavoidable!

Those Silver Tips are identical to the rockets, thats why I started using the Silver Tips. Mine have smashed through ribs without showing any signs of wear, you should give them a second chance.
It looks like the whole head is missing from the picture, confusing.

p.s. Frank, by the looks of your family I'll have to admit that you either married a younger woman, or your younger than I thought. In the past years I've read the wisdom in your post and just assumed that you were one of the older and wiser croud.
