Would you shoot?

If you have a Pope and Young buck early in the season, would you shoot it(125) or would you wait till the rut and hope to find a bigger one?

RE: Would you shoot?

I would shoot. Reason being I am looking for meat for the freezer and also I haven't gotten one yet.

I hunt both Pa and Ill. In Pa,he's venison!
In Illinois we pass 125 bucks period.

I guess it all depends on if you are Horn hunting or meat hunting. One in the freezer is better than none at all.

You bet I would. Prior to the opening of the season that's when I'll do all my scouting..when the season opens, that's when the hunt begins. A deer in the hand may be worth two in the bush--I may never get another chance at that buck again.
