i need a quick question answered...bout 2 weeks ago, i shot a 5 point and am goin to get it mounted...is it to late to mount it casue the taxidermist friend sayed that it might be..should we do anything to it so we can save it?? he said if it smelled like a pungent odor it was bad

It's way to late. you can save the skull and use a different cape. You can usually get one from your butcher that processes deer for hunters.
