In southern MO, where I hunt a lot, we have Loblolly pines all over the place. They are awesome climbing trees. Straight, uniform, an no low branches. They are a bit sticky, and if it is wet, they are down right slick. But I climb them all the time and have had no trouble. They are a little crunchy though.

just make sure your teeth on your stand got a good grip and are dug in pretty good. also try to keep a little weight towards the end farthest from the tree. although alot of people stand on the end of their stand to dig it in, do so with caution and never without a harness.

I've been using the same one for a couple of weeks now...just fine. A little more noisy than some but once you get settled in try to peel or rub as much bark off as you can...helps keep the noise down when your back or anything else rubs up against it.My stand (lone wolf hand climber) does just fine in pines but I have not tried them wet?

to me its the easiest and safest tree to climb, a little noisy, but once you get settled in, its ok.you can hunt as high as you like, good luck and be safe

Pines have a more uniform diameter to a greater height. Oaks, in general taper to fast. A Summet vip

good luck
