Late Season Bow Hunting
How does everyone cope with the special challenges of late season? The cold can be a real dealbreaker some days. How do you stay warm and still be able to shoot? Etc.

Them pocket hand and feet warmers are the bomb for sure. And the bigger ones put in the inside of your coat really do the job.

RE: Late Season Bow Hunting
me, I LOVE late season hunting. the bucks are more consentrated on food and so are the does. I keep my self warm with hot cocoa and a good pair of thermals. Besides be a little nippy keeps you on your toes. The great thing about late season is that the bucks arew done rutting and are grouping together. I had 6 bucks come by me last year in early january and one was a nice nice buck. although he had already lost one side of his antlers the other side more than made up for it. I rarely see a bucks complete rack a big as this guys one side was.

Get really good,warm boots!
Sitting on stand used to freeze my feet even with 800 gram boots. 2 years ago a friend of mine and me went out in 9 below weather. My feet were like bricks in about an hour. That night I said "screw that" and went online looking for boots. I bought a pair from Cabela's that have 3"of insulation under your foot. I paid to have them next day air delivered so I would have them for the next weekend. They make you hit your head on stuff you never did before but man are they warm! Best 170.00 I ever spent on boots. Handwarmers, layers of clothing,a good warm hat and a fleece balaclave(sp) and I am set for any weather. I hunt thru the middle of January in Iowa so you need warm gear! |

I forgot,
a thick seat pad and an extra pad to put under your feet really makes difference too. |
