Default bow arm question

I was told by a pro shop a copupple years ago to always bend your bow arm when shooting I've read advise from pro shooters to do the same also, but I've also read from pro shooters to keep your bow arm locked. I read an article by Bernie Pellerite who wrote that someone who locks the bow arm will never hold your bow steady. What do you guys do? thanks Jim

I believe the idea is to maintain as much bone to bone contact as possible, which removes muscle strain, without actually locking your elbow and overextending. Most people who have to overextend their arm are pulling a longer draw length than they need.

Slightly bend your arm, if u have it straight every move you make the bow will move. If u have it straight enough u can see it move when your heart beats. So bend your arm Slightly and you will hold steady.

Try to hold a heavy book straight out with a locked elbow and then hold it sraight out with a slightly bent elbow. I think that will answer your question.

When i come to full draw i always unlock my elbow and bend it slightly. This also helps you avoid having the string to strike your forearm.

If your bow has the correct draw length, I believe you will have a slight natural bend in your elbow at full draw.
