Default Who makes the best bow?

I am a "backslidden" bowhunter returning to the sport this season for the first time since 1987. Currently I shoot a Golden Eagle Hunter which is a compound recurve that was state of the art in 1987. The state of the art has changed in the last 15 years as have some of the names of the manufacturers.

Since this old laminated wood compound recurve probably won't last long(as some bow shops tell me), but should last the season anyway. I am researching the next purchase. Have heard good things about many brands. Some negative opinions about PSE and 1 or 2 others. Wanted some input on what is the best bow to buy? whats the best value? what do you look for?

Sooner

Hey, size may not matter but it IS nice.

Opinions some will say mathews some will say hoyt, but if you ask me Highcountry archerys line cant be beat, you need to go out and test shoot to see what you like..

I currently own a Matthews and My wife owns a Hoyt so I would have to say either Matthews or Hoyt. But what shoots great in my hands will be different in yours. Shop around and test shoot many bows, buy the bow that fits your needs.

The best bow for what? For under $400? For under $1000? League shooting?
My point is that lots of people kill lots of deer with a $300 setup, because that is what they can afford to start with. Anyone with enough money to have a $1000 setup will probably have a poor opinion of PSE or other brands of relatively inexpensive bows.
You will find that everyone thinks that their brand is best and all others should be thrown in the trash. They would defend their brand to the death.
PSE, Hoyt, Bowtech, etc, will all kill deer. And dead is dead. Not Hoyt dead and PSE dead.....

The one that feels the best in your hand. Go to a pro-shop and try every brand they carry. Then, based on your budget, buy the best most comfortable bow you can afford.

Last year I bought a Matthews SQ2 because it felt better in my hand - therefore I'm shooting better. The Hoyt Havoctech didn't feel comfortable at all. The grip felt like it was too small for my hand. Just my opinion.

PSE makes some of the most expensive bows on the market as well as some of the least expensive. PSE and every other manufacturer will have ardent supporters who say their brand is the best. It all boils down to finding a bow that meets your needs. No way to do that, other than try them.
