knees hurt on stand?

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem or a guess as to what the problem is? My knees get realy sore while sitting to a point where it is very painful and I need to stand and when I stand the pain is still there for about 30 seconds and then subsides. I don't seem to have a problem in early Oct., but right about Nov. it begins (has been going on the last few years) and lasts through the winter. I can only sit for about a half hour or so without standing or straightening my legs. I guess I was wondering if this sounds likearthritis? I am 33 years old, 6'3 and 275lbs.
Thanks, Chris

Does this only happen when you are in the treestand? If that's the case, then it's the stand.

No, it happens in all my stands and any time my knees are bent at a ninety degree angle.

Mine do this too...
I have to straighten out my legs ever so often. When I havent moved them for a while and I straighten them out, my knees pop.

Hungar,
I have a similar sort of problem but I think I know what mine is. My knees are fine until I have to start wearing my coveralls. The coveralls fit fine when I stand up, but when I sit down with my knees bent in a 90 degree angle there is some tightness to the clothing around my knees which seems to cause a stiffness and pain During gun season, when wearing my blaze orange coveralls I do not have thing problem as they are looser fitting. I haven't bought new camo coveralls, instead I change the angle of my legs and put my feet out in front of me, sometimes even hanging over the front edge of the stand. What's even better is a stand with a footrest. Hope this helps in some way.

It COULD be arthritis. Some of the guys I hunt with really get affected by the weather when it gets cold, but particularly when it's cold and damp out. Might be worth getting checked out.

HUNGER I have that prob with one knee that i injured. When it gets cold i cant sit because of pain. I had my wife sew a pocket into my hunting pants over the sore knee. This helped a lot. I can sit all day now. I am also only 33, young to deal with these sorts of things LOL. GOOD LUCK!!

Depending on what kind of stand you use you could make something to raise the seat up. This would lessen the angle of the bend in your knees.
My right knee gets sore when it is cold. Too many years kick starting stroker motor Harley's:D

I use a really thick seat pad or twowhen I'm in my ladder stands. I'm only 5' 10" and the seat is still too low compared to the foot platform. The foot platform is also real small and close so you can't strech your legsout much.
This also makes it easier to stand up with bow in hand.

I hardly ever sit so the bottom of my feet hurt after a few hours. Your a big man so them knees are probably wearing a bit. You might soak them in cider.
