RE: I screwed up BIG time
I don't know man, wardens will give you the same punishment whether you come clean or not, they don't give breaks. I think I would keep quiet and hope it slips through without being noticed. One in a million but, just my opinion.

RE: I screwed up BIG time
Dude, that's the right attitude. As I said earlier, you checked the thing in........there is NO way you are not going to be called on it. I think you should at least be proud of how you are handling it. Very mature.

RE: I screwed up BIG time
I know the wardens around here (I used to train retrievers with them). I KNOW if a young hunter called them and explained their situation....it would mean a great deal to them....and I "think" (wink-wink)..they have some latitude.
I think I'd give them a call....but don't offer to show them the photos...lol Jeff |
RE: I screwed up BIG time
A friend of mine filled out the application for a turkey tag wrong. It asked if he as a landowner, he said yes. But he only owned 2 achers of land (not where he was going to hunt) but on another page of the application, it said you only qualify as a land owner if you own 7+ achers. He ended up getting a $275 fine for just filling out the application wrong, ever even set foot in the woods. It wasnt even close to turkey season yet.

RE: I screwed up BIG time
This is the way it usually works in IL as far as most DNR officers i have spoken to. You admit it ... You will pay the fine, and a stern look from the officer! You get caught trying to pull a fast one (which in this case, looks inevitable) They will get you for anything/everything they can. In your case, if you dont come clean, and since you checked in already, I would say sooner or your just gonna get fined either way. Dont beat yourself up to much, every year it seems like our RULES are re-written and it's tough to keep tabs.
