Alabama Rut

When exactly is the rut this year in central Alabama near Clay County and Goodwater? I'm familiar with the January rut, but what weeks would be the best weeks to hunt?

RE: Alabama Rut

I found the following at the website address below:
BREEDING PERIOD OR RUT
Throughout Alabama, some breeding takes place from as early
as mid-November to as late as the end of February or early March. For
most of the state, peak-breeding activity occurs around mid- to late January.
Research conducted by state biologists has documented average
conception dates around Thanksgiving, mid-December, early January
and even into early February. Causes for such highly variable breeding
dates are discussed later in this book (see
EFFECTS OF ADULT SEX
RATIO AND BUCK AGE STRUCTURE, page 49
).

i hunt the WMA's in central Alabama...and i've seen signs of pre-rut activity in the West Jefferson WMA...and have talked with a few guys who own their own land bordering Jefferson Tuscaloosa counties and they said the rut is early in this part of the state...they also told me that throughout the state in different areas the rut isn't the same...they were sayin' the peak might range from a week up to a month...so i guess it just depends on where at in the state you are...any or more acurate info is appreciated...this seems completely inaccuate from the article Dufus posted but i wouldn't over look the opinions from the sources i've heard from...with the weather we've been havin' it might have an impact on a change in the rut...IMO
