i use bleats around thickets, scrapes. in the coldi like to huntup wind of food sources if at all possible in heavy cover and use food scent attractants. grunts might work around scrapes to with some tickling of the antlers. i always use some type of sent to give appeal. sometimes estrus or just urine. to me tho i like the post rut. its cold, less hard core hunters, deer move and feed more ( and check scrapes during the mid day, hay they're moving, might as well). my calling usually works on the grounds i hunt I'd say about 20-30% of the time.i think scents raise the % but thats just my 2 scents. good luck bro and hunt hard because it will all be over before u know it:)
