Practice discovery

I went out in the back yard to shoot a few at 30yds and realised everything was hitting 4'' right. This was with my practice broadheads which had been hitting with my field tips, so I went into my shop got three arrows with field tips and tried them. Same result. I guess I must have bumped my sight or something. It took me two adjustments to get things flying correctly again. 3" group at 30yds with 5 arrows. I hadn't shot my bow since I killed a doe two weeks ago. I've had the bow in the woods almost every day for the past two weeks. I don't remember hitting it on anything. Oh well, I'm glad I decided to practice today.

Same here. Came home from the woods and practiced also. I was about 4-5 inches to the left. Glad I practiced also...

So here's the deal. If you haven't been practicing you may not want to be so quick to change those sites. If everything is tight it probably hasn't moved. What is more likely to happen where we go for long periods without some serious practice is WE CHANGE. That's right, if you're shooting some sort of contact rest(prongy or something like it) and you just change the grip pressure ever so slightly, 4 inches is a very likely results. YOu should really break up the practice into a couple sessions separated by a few hours and THEN see if you still hit right of right. Unless you have a very precise grip pressure, strange things can happen when we've been away from it all. Tomorrow you may very well shoot 4 inches to the left.[&:]

I don't grip very hard at all. I shoot with an open hand and I use a Cobra Diamondback drop away. I'm not getting any fletching contact. I also went back out and shot several more groups later in the day. Everything is still flying right. I'm going out right now to try again. I want to be sure before I hit the woods tonight. BTW, that was the longest I've ever gone without practice since I started shooting a bow. No more long layoffs! OK, I just came back in. groups at 30yds., the worst one was about 6". I'm good to go.
