learned a good lesson today. set up in a huge oak that had lots of acorns scattered around on the ground. doe came up to the oak at 4:55 p.m. but she was to my right and i couldn't turn to make the shot without spooking her. i would of had to turn 180 to get a shot off. to hard of an angle also to shoot at since she was practically underneith me.next time i'll set up overlooking the food instead of being right on top of it;)

Yep, good lesson learned. I generally try to set up about 20 yards from where I think the deer will be; that way, I can cover a few yards past it if absolutely necessary (say out to about 35 or so), as well as 35 the other direction. Now, you've got almost 70 yards covered! ;)

I'd much rather climb an oak than a walnut tree. All afternoon I was ducking from the falling walnuts overhead! haha
