Safety Harness
 

Currently I'm using a 5 point saftey harness provided with my stand. However, I think I would feel more secure with a harness that would allow me to use a rope to get back to the ground if necessary and be always attached. Does anybody use a regular tree or rock climbing harness?
Just want to feel better up there. I don't consider sleeping as was mentioned in an earlier post.:eek:

if u are looking for somethin that keeps u attached to the tree at all time even when climbin up and down i think u should check out the fall-guy 20ft retractor and summit has a climbin rope that attaches up in the tree and uses a prussic knot so that u can move it up and down as u asend/desend. Just a though

I use that Summit system and let me tell you...I really feelsecure when climbing up and down using that system.....it's lightweight , simple to use, and bomb proof. Check them out at

I like the idea of the fall-guy 20ft retractor, at least its safe to get in and out of the stand but is there not somthing on the market that does that as well as get back to the ground?

The summit climbing system does both......Mainline around the tree, prussik knot with carabiner (sp) attached to your harness. Throw it up the tree like you see the guys is the logging competitions, and raise the prussik knot, raise the stand...do it until your at height. Reverse to go down. It's pretty slick. I dont climb w/o it.

Been thinking about it...you could make one out of some climbing rope, and a carabiner. If you need help with the prussic knot go to http://www.seakayak.ws/kayak/kayak.nsf/NavigationList/NT000B1A26and scroll down to the knot. You should be able to get away with 8ft of rope.
I made one for my brother and he loves it. Ensure you get a carabiner thats rated for climbing...not one of those "gear" holders that are 2.99.
A good carabiner will run you a few more bucks.

u can use the fall guy for getin back to the ground i think but u might has to go slow so that it does not lock up on the way down
