I've never had the tip curl up even on a heavy bone shot. They just slice right through. The only time I have had any tip curl, is when I hit a big rock on that was on the other side of the deer I had just shot. Just make sure they are sharp(ie: not out of the pack). That's all you should need, they are super heads.

I am shooting the new Magnus Stingers and buried one up to the ferrule in a cedar tree after passing through a deer. I really don't think your going to have a problem with the tip curling on you.

I have heard of people doing this for the reasons you have mentioned, but personally, I have not done this. The only thing that I recommend modifying is the angle of the blade to achieve a better edge. Like WV, I have never experienced the end curling. I have had one slightly bent after a shot at a deer, however, like WV, I am not sure when the blade bent. It may have been after the pass through. One note however, I use a 145 grain head. I have seen the 100 grain vented blade head they make now, and am not so sure of it's strength.

I don't bother, infact they are pretty darn tough out of the pack, but I do agree you need to sharpen them before going hunting. Magnus makes a great broadhead, tough and accurate.
