What is your recommendations for a new bowhunter
I have always hunted animals with a rifle or a shotgun, but after reading through this site for the past couple of years and this guy that I work with, I am definitely wanting to buy a bow and start practicing for next year. I was set up at Scheel's with a decent used bow, andwithout a peep site, I was shooting 3 inch groupings. What are everyone's ideas for what is out there, but still reasonably priced to start with.

I'd say get a peep sight and see if that improves your groupings just a tad...after that, if the groupings are good, I say stick with what you got! Make sure the arrow rest is quiet on the draw and other than that, you are set!

and what ever means it takes...wheither by reading reading and more reading, or buddying up with a dead-eye Dick make sure you get your setup tuned. All the difference in the world!!!!

This is my 2nd year Bowhunting, i first started out with a OLD High country bow i still have it even though i switched to a Hoyt, but regardless, you just need to practice, with your bow, and find the right tunage and right draw length, etc.

It sounds to me like you're looking for advice on buying a new bow. If that is the case, and you are trying to stay within a budget, I'd consider buying one of the package deals from PSE or something like that. You can get a good starter bow package for around $200 that comes with almost everything you need. If you can spend a bit more and know you're going to really be serious about bow hunting, I'd go with a better quality set up. I just bought a Hoyt UltraMag and I love it. It's not the top of the line Hoyt, but it's a great bow. Have your bow shop or someone that knows what they're doing help you get it set up and tuned. I've only been bow hunting for two years and I just bought the Hoyt this year. I really like it. It's very forgiving, fast and quiet. I'm almost considering giving up on rifle hunting because I enjoy the thrill of bow hunting so much.

I have heard that the PSE is fairly good. I think that is what I actually shot on the first time and it seemed to feel pretty nice, and considering that it was only $250 or so, I figured that it was probably the way to go. Thanks for your help with this. I really appreciate everyone's thoughts on this.
