Default 14 year old hunter killed in Ohio

yesterday in southern Ohio a 14 year old boy was shot by his father with a cross bow. Sources say that the father shot into some corn because he thought it was a deer when it was his boy. This goes to show how careful we all need to be when hunting.

I don't know if I want to even take the time to justify this ludicrous imbecile with a response; I'm sure others will come along and do it more justice!

There's absolutely NO excuse for that. It's so bad that it would make me wonder if the idiot took out an insurance policy on his son before taking him hunting! I know, that's an extremely bad thought, but I cannot even fathom "shooting into corn" at a noise! I think we could all go on and on about identifying your target before shooting... Cripes! Isn't that the first thing you learn before anyone hands you a weapon of any sort!!!???

Discipline -- not desire -- determines destiny.

Amen MQ1!

Target ID! Gotta be positive.

I would agree with MQ1, either this man is a large enough moron that he is danger to us all, or there is something very fishy about said "accident".

I've passed up plenty of deer because the animal didn't present a good shot or the area down range may have been unsafe for a shot. Be careful out there.

I hope he isn't in my part of Ohio! If I catch a guy taking shots at me I might have to add him to my list of huntable game! That's ridiculous to shoot at something when you don't even know what it is!

God bless,
Brandan

It's been said, and it will be said, but it obviously cannot be said enough! Identify your F*****G target! You cannot make a shot, let alone a good shot, if you don't know what your shooting at!!! Man this really burns me. You cannot be too careful!! The only shred of justice in this, is that the man will have to live with the fact that in his infinite stupidity, he shot his own son. This is what I mean when I say at the end of every post "measure twice and shoot once"..."MEASURE TWICE": It means know what the hell your shooting at and be double-sure of your target! ARGH!....this is tragic and could have easily been avoided.
